Barbara "Barb" Eleanor Hartwig of Bella Vista AR, passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville, Arkansas. She was born on January 21, 1934, in Iowa Falls, Iowa to parents John Haupt and Edna Kniewaser Haupt.
Barb graduated from Iowa Falls High school and attended Ellsworth Junior College in Iowa Falls. She was then employed by Ralston Purina and the ASCS office in Iowa Falls. She retired from the Maytag Company in Newton, IA in 1993.
Her faith and church played a big part in her life. She began playing the organ and piano for various Missouri Synod Lutheran churches at the age of 14 and played for several Lutheran churches throughout her life until a few years ago. She was also in the church choir and an active member of a women's Bible study group. She volunteered as a sponsor to Laotian families when they arrived in the U.S. and volunteered at an elementary school reading to students. Later in life she enjoyed traveling with her husband.
She was preceded in death by twin sisters, Marjorie Omlid, Marguerite Mohlis; her parents; and her husband, Gary Hartwig.
She is survived by daughter, Kristine Cross, from Little Elm, TX as well as four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family extends gratitude to the staff of Apple Creek Health and Rehabilitation who provided support during the last months of her life.
A memorial service will be held at Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715 on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at 11:30 am.
