Betty Lucille Hicks, Bentonville, was born on April 24, 1934, in Fort Worth, Texas to Lucille and John Allen.   She went home to be with her Lord and Savior  March 11, 2022.   She is best known for her faith in Jesus and  a genuine interest in anyone she happened to meet.   She had a charm and love of laughter that brought joy to all who knew her.

Betty grew up in Fort Worth Texas raised primarily by her mother and beloved older brother John.   From a young age she was active, outgoing, and made friends with whom she remained in contact throughout her entire life.   She loved being outdoors, played tennis and practically lived at the local roller rink where she met her first husband Robert (Bob) Hare. They married February 1, 1952 and had their 3 children by 1957.   They moved around following oil field work through Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana.   They loved to dance the Texas Two Step, bowling, fishing and picnics with the children.    They separated after 12 years, and Betty became a single mother raising her children through high school.   Bob and Betty got back together in 1975 and Bob's work on offshore international oil rigs made them world travelers.     They moved to Bahrain for a time while he worked in the Persian Gulf and later moved to Wokingham, England home base.    While stationed overseas, they traveled through Europe, Egypt, Thailand, Australia, and many other countries before retiring in Bella Vista.

As a mother and grandmother, Betty was beloved.  On her 75 ^th birthday her family wrote her notes expressing their memories.  Summarizing the words of her children; she was the best example and they all aspire to be more like her.    Her grandchildren used these phrases:  the fun Grandma, tickle monster, laughter, exciting and adventurous trips, Grandmas' therapeutic dinner table, encouraging, supportive, accepting, the grandmother all my friends wished they had.

When Bob died in August of 1994, Betty stayed in Bella Vista working as a receptionist for an Occupational Therapist and then as an aid in a special needs' classroom for Bentonville Public Schools.    She still loved to dance and found another great partner in Charles Hicks.   They married October 3, 1998, and enjoyed parties, cruises and dancing with their many friends until he died in July 2015.

Betty moved in with her daughter Suzanne Baker in January of 2017 until October of 2021 when she moved to The Meadows assisted living facility.     In the last two years of her life Betty suffered with Alzheimer's.   While it took most of her memory, it couldn't take her true spirit.   Even through the hardest times, she was always joking and affectionally calling everyone "darlin ".

Betty was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Hare, second husband Charles Hicks, brother John Allen Jr. and granddaughter Rebecca Baker.

She is survived by her children; Michael and Janice Hare, Suzanne Baker, David and Sheri Hare; grandchildren Erick Hare, Ethan Hare, Geoffrey Baker, Katrina and Kaleb Doss, Tim and Erin Hare, Janis and Troy Walker, and great-grandchildren Emory Hare, Ezra Hare, Elias Hare, Drew Doss, Sadie Walker, Eden Walker.
