Bonnie Lee
Buechler
Apr 22, 1930 — Mar 8, 2023
Bella Vista
Bonnie Lee Buechler, 92, of Bella Vista, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2023. After an extended illness, Bonnie is now fully healed and resting in peace.
Bonnie was born on April 22,1930, to Ernest and Lola Merkel in Bowdle, South Dakota. At the age of 18, she married her high school sweetheart, Roland Buechler, on August 22, 1948. Their marriage of 74 years is a testament to sacrificial love and commitment. After a couple years of marriage, they were blessed with two children, Carol and Todd.
Bonnie worked as the financial secretary for the Waukee Iowa Public School system. She was an avid biker, loved needlework, knitting and crafting. Bonnie was a member of the Bella Vista Bike Club which kept her young and active. She was known to outwalk her grandkids leaving them huffing and puffing behind her. As a member of the Bella Vista Clown Club, Bonnie volunteered her time bringing a smile and offering hope to those in her community who needed it most.
Bonnie was an active member of the United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista for 35 years. She was a member of the Quilters Guild and played handbells for many years.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Joyce, and Marilyn; and her brother, Jarae.
She is survived by her husband, Roland and two children, Carol Wright of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Todd Buechler(Nita) of Greenville, South Carolina. Bonnie had the joy of seeing her family tree grow with the birth of seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Bonnie will be dearly missed and always remembered by her friends and family. She was a faithful wife, a thoughtful mother, and a kind grandmother and great-grandmother. Her cookies may not have been filled with butter and chocolate chips, but her healthier versions were made with love and neatly and creatively wrapped in a way that made everyone who had the honor of receiving them feel cared for. This is what she did best… she faithfully served and cared for her family and friends.
Our family will greatly miss her loving smile and wit.
A celebration of life in Bonnie's honor will be held Saturday, April 22, 2023, at 11:00 am at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, Arkansas 72715.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Bonnie's memory to United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, Arkansas 72715 or Circle of Life, 1201 NE Legacy Pkwy, Bentonville, Arkansas 72712 who took such good care of her the last year of her life.
