Chuck was born in Davenport, Iowa on December 27, 1935.  His parents were Opal (Lathrop) and Edwin Scherz.  Chuck had one sister, Shirley Scherz and all preceded him in death.

After high school, Chuck joined the United States Army and was stationed in Hawaii and was honorably discharged on July 5, 1963.

Chuck married the love of his life, Kathleen Ida Lovestrand on May 17, 1968.  Together they had seven children; Douglas (deceased), Debra (deceased), Wendy of Davenport, Iowa, Gale (Karen) Scherz of Avon, IN, Cheryl (Scott) Serrano of Eldridge, IA, Vicki (David) Leech of Siloam Springs, AR and Valerie (Steve) Eliason of Bloomington, MN.  Chuck and Katie were blessed with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Their passion in life besides their family, was singing in various Barbershop Quartets and choruses that traveled and competed across the United States.  Chuck was a lifetime member of SPEBSQSA  which is a national barbershop organization.  They were also members of the United Lutheran Church in Bella Vista, AR.

Chuck passed away at the Arkansas Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville, AR on August 22, 2022.

A Celebration of Life Service will be announced at a later date.
