Dale John Bachman, 63, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, after a yearlong battle with glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer. He was born on September 30, 1960 in Enid, Oklahoma to Eugene and Arlene Bachman.

He married his wife, Linda, in June 1984 after he received his BA in mathematics from Phillips University in 1982. He went on to receive a Ph.D. in mathematics from the University of Missouri in 1988 under the direction of Ira Papick.  In 1989, Dale joined the National Security Agency. In 1999, he was a security consultant for Sprint in Texas. In 2003, he started an academic career at the University of Central Missouri but continued to engage with the intelligence research community through attending summer programs at the Center for Communications Research.  In 2016, he joined CCR Princeton full-time as director of computing, a position he held until shortly before his untimely death.

Dale enjoyed woodworking, theater, reading, and playing games with family and friends. He was a dedicated family man who was always more concerned about others than he was about himself. He was brilliant, humble, well-loved, and will be missed greatly by many.

He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Arlene Bachman.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Bachman; daughter, Michelle Tran; son, Eric Bachman; and sister, Malia Bachman.

Life celebrations for Dale will be held in Maryland and Arkansas in 2024.
