Dennis Allyn Remboldt, 94, died peacefully on February 7, 2023, with his family by his side. He lived a long, active, and fulfilling life with energy and zest. He enjoyed playing (almost) daily golf, slowing down only in the last few years of his life after breaking his leg while trying to shoot his way out of a sand trap.

Dennis was born October 27, 1928, to Ernest Jay Remboldt and Elsie Ann Knoll Remboldt in Gackle, North Dakota. He grew up and graduated from high school in Gackle, a small town on the plains, settled by the Remboldt family. He served in the US Army Air Force from 1946-49, and in the US Air Force Reserve from 1952-1980, when he retired as a Lt. Colonel. Dennis earned a Civil Engineering degree from North Dakota State University and completed post graduate work at the University of Kansas. He worked as a structural engineer for state and federal highway administrations in North Dakota, South Dakota, Illinois, and Kansas. He retired from the Federal Highway Administration, Kansas Division, in Topeka and moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas where he could play golf to his heart's content.

In 1950, Dennis married Marion Maxine Noteboom (b.1929-d.2017) with whom he had 10 children, Jo Remboldt, Kathy Karlsson (Lennart), Mike Remboldt (Jan), Jeff Remboldt, Mark Remboldt (Christina), Mary R. Gage (David), Tom Remboldt (Katherine), Carmen Lewis (Kent), Dan Remboldt (Karen), and Charles Remboldt (Monicka). They later divorced. He was married to Holly Marrs until her death in 1994. In 1996 he married the love of his life, Angie Domogalla, and became stepfather to her three children, Richard Madison (Darrin), Roxanna Fisher (Andy), and Patrick Karpinski (Heather).

Dennis was an active and involved member of his community all his life. He was the leader of Boy Scout troops for many years, helping his sons achieve Eagle scout, and leading backpacking trips to Philmont in New Mexico and the Boundary Waters of Minnesota. He served on the Bella Vista Water Resources Board and volunteered as a tax assistant for AARP. He was a member of the Bella Vista Community Church, serving as a volunteer and member of the choir.

In addition to perfecting his golf game, where he met many lifelong friends, Dennis devoted much of his retirement time to travel. He crisscrossed the country on highways he helped build, going to all 50 states including, often, his home state of North Dakota. Much of his world-wide travel was done by cruise ship with Angie at his side.

Dennis and Angie's 13 children blessed them with 29 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Dennis kept in touch with his extended Remboldt family, and many other relatives and treasured friends from Gackle, Bismarck, Topeka, Bella Vista and across the country. His spirit and energy will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 15 ^th at 2:00pm at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 E Lancashire Blvd, Bella Vista. Inurnment will be in July at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan, North Dakota.
