Dione Harvill Doty, age 73, of Bella Vista, AR passed away on May 24, 2024, with her devoted husband and loving daughters by her side. Born on January 7, 1951, to Hudie and Grachel Myers Harvill in Hot Springs, AR. Dione exuded kindness, compassion, and an insatiable curiosity throughout her life.
Growing up in a military family, Dione spent her youth living on various military installations in the U.S. and abroad. In 1969, she graduated from White Hall High in White Hall, AR. She attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, AR before graduating with a bachelor's degree in accounting and MBA from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. She was a certified public accountant.
On July 20, 1969, she attended a celebration of the Apollo 11 moon landing where she met Jerry Doty of Pine Bluff, AR. The couple married on December 20, 1969. They made Little Rock, AR home for 43 years before retiring to Bella Vista, AR in 2012.
Dione spent 17 years with Arkansas Power and Light/Entergy in financial accounting. Additionally, she worked with Alliant Foodservice, Acxiom, Windstream, and Jefferson Regional Hospital as a HIPPA compliance officer.
Dione was a woman of many talents and passions. A creative spirit, she found joy in the kitchen, delighting friends and family with her culinary skills. She possessed an appreciation for the arts and enjoyed creating pottery, sewing, knitting, and was an avid reader. She volunteered with many organizations but particularly enjoyed time spent volunteering with the Little Rock Animal Village and with fostering animals through MEW in Northwest Arkansas.
She was a seasoned swim team carpool driver, intrepid traveler, cookie making master, brilliant financial analyst, appreciator of good wine accompanied by stories and laughs with friends, crafter extraordinaire, and had a passion for photographing the Moon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Dorlena Harvill Beukema; her in-laws, Charles J. Doty, Sr. and Selma Shelby Doty; as well as her brother-in-law, Stephen Doty.
Dione is survived by her husband, Jerry, her daughters, Renée Doty of Little Rock, AR and Erin McGarrah (Chase) of Rogers, AR. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren, Coen McGarrah of Tampa, FL, and Caroline and Camden McGarrah of Rogers, AR. She leaves behind a sister, Donna Harvill Evans (David) of Harriet, AR, and a brother, Ebbie Alan Harvill (Shelley) of Bryant, AR. She will be remembered by her brother-in-law Charles J. Doty, Jr. (Hazel) of Bartlett, TN; sister-in law, Beverly Doty Ledebuhr (Dan), of Bartlett, TN; and her sister-in-law, Wanda Doty, of Bartlett, TN. Dione leaves behind numerous cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
A celebration of Dione's life will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Bella Vista Funeral Home, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Glioblastoma Foundation or the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts in her memory.
