Eva Loyce
Phillips
Oct 27, 1935 — Jan 6, 2026
Nashville
Eva Loyce (Henson) Phillips, 90, of Nashville, TN passed away on January 6, 2026. She was born in Douglas County, Missouri, on October 27, 1935, in a house on her grandfather's land, to Ezra Clayton Henson and Sylvia Josephine Ridens Henson. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Champion, Missouri, which is still standing today. She was baptized in a creek in October sometime in the late 40s. She attended Ava High School, graduating in 1954, and immediately moved to California to live with an aunt and uncle.
In the late 50s, she moved to Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where she met Harold Leon Phillips, and asked if he would like to attend a local basketball game with her. Six months later, on July 2, 1960, they were married and spent 62 happy years together.
In 1962, their first son, Barry, was born. In 1964, another son, Bill, followed, and in 1966, they relocated to Hacienda Heights in Southern California. In February of 1968, the family moved to Southern Wisconsin where they stayed for the next 16 years. In 1983, Harold's work took them to Little Rock, Arkansas, then Claremore, Oklahoma and Midwest City, Oklahoma, before retiring to Bella Vista, Arkansas, in 2009.
They spent 13 happy years in Bella Vista until Harold's passing in 2022. At that time, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and lived with her sons for the remainder of her life.
She served the Hope Harbor children's home in Oklahoma for many years alongside her husband and was an active member of the Lord's church her entire life. She enjoyed traveling with her family, cooking, writing cards and letters to her family and friends around the country, and simply being a wife and a mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Royce and Randy; sister Denise; and her husband, Harold.
She is survived by her sons, Barry and Bill, and many, many friends who will miss her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at Bella Vista Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m. and burial at Bella Vista Memorial Garden Cemetery.
