Francis Gilbert "Gil" Sloan, Jr. passed away peaceful May 14, 2026, at the age of 86.  He was born to Francis Gilbert Sloan, Sr. and Valerie (Bauer) Sloan on April 19, 1940, in Victoria, Texas.

He spent his early years in Victoria until leaving the small town to join the F.W. Woolworth Company.  This job took him and his family to many other small towns and cities as he advanced his career. After many years with Woolworth, he left the company and moved to Colorado and finished his career working at Fort Logan Hospital and Lomas & Nettleton.  Upon retirement he returned to his roots in the south Texas Hill County and then made one final move to Bella Vista, Arkansas to be closer to family.

Gil loved camping, hiking, backpacking, fly fishing and skiing in Colorado, scuba diving in the Gulf of Mexico including search and recovery, tending to his horses and helping with BLM roundups, coin collecting and even square dancing. He was a proud member of Sons of the American Revolution and the Sons of Texas.

Gil was proceeded in death by his grandparents, Joseph Harmon and Mabel (Heard) Sloan, Charles and Addie Elizabeth (Mahavier) Bauer; his parents; and one son, Francis Timothy Sloan.

He is survived by his wife, Trisha Jane (Rockwood) Sloan and children: Deborah Sloan (Michael) Coen, Adrienne Sloan (Steve Strimple), Jeremy Sloan, Aimae Sloan and eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Rd., Bella Vista, AR 72715 on Saturday, June 6 at 11:00 AM, reception and fellowship to follow at Rosita's.
