Geneva Jean Hamilton, 80, of Hiwasse, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on April 30, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas, following a lengthy illness.

She was born on September 4, 1945, in Bentonville, Arkansas, to Dean and Nona (Holloway) Fletcher. Geneva graduated from Gravette High School in 1963 and later attended Draughn's School of Business in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where she received a Certificate of Completion and the Speed Writing Award. While in Tulsa, she met and married Robert Hamilton of Westville, Oklahoma. This past July, they celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Geneva accompanied her husband to Europe during his military service and traveled extensively there until his discharge. She worked for several insurance companies before she and Robert operated a poultry and cattle farm in Hiwasse for 28 years. In 1991, she became Postmaster Relief in Hiwasse and later proudly served as Postmaster from 2005 until her retirement in 2011. Her name is listed in the US National Archives and Record Administration as the last official Postmaster of Hiwasse, before the town was annexed into Gravette in 2012. She was a familiar and trusted presence in the community.

Geneva and Robert were longtime members of Hiwasse Church of the Nazarene, where she served as a board member, board secretary, children's church director, Vacation Bible School director, and Sunday School teacher. She was also presented with the Distinguished Service Award by the church.  Geneva was a devoted member of the board of directors for the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Association in Hiwasse for over 30 years. In 2024, Geneva and Robert were honored as Gravette Day Parade Grand Marshals.

Geneva happily volunteered as a "class mom" for both of her children, assisting with classroom activities and field trips. She later attended all of Marlo's plays and traveled to support Robert Paul at his football games, something she deeply enjoyed—and remained just as devoted in attending events for Koletun, Beau, and Reese. She attended countless sporting events and found immense joy in cheering on the children of family and friends at their many school ceremonies and activities throughout the years.

Geneva led the effort to bring the Hiwasse community together to write and publish two Hiwasse History Books, in 1994 and 1999, preserving the town's story—from its days of trains and apple orchards to the founding families who have called Hiwasse home for generations.

She will be remembered for her selflessness, loyalty, altruism, honesty, empathy, sincerity, generosity, and wonderful sense of humor. Geneva enjoyed working outdoors on her farm, mowing, raking and burning leaves, picking up walnuts, and picking up sticks, so she could mow. Geneva loved spending time with family and friends. In her own words, she lived a life that reflected her testimony: "I have the fruit of the Spirit," from Galatians 5:22-23, exemplifying the attributes produced by the Holy Spirit in the lives of believers: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

Geneva is survived by her husband, Robert Hamilton of Hiwasse, Arkansas; son, Robert Paul (Amanda) Hamilton of Hiwasse, Arkansas; daughter, Marlo (John) Klenke of Gravette, Arkansas; grandson, Koletun (Rachel) Hamilton of Iwakuni, Japan; grandson, Beau (Hannah) Hamilton of Bentonville, Arkansas; granddaughter, Reese (Grant) McNew of Norman, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, June and Benjamin Hamilton of Iwakuni, Japan; brothers, Clarence (Donna) Fletcher of Hiwasse, Arkansas, and Johnny Wayne Fletcher of Siloam Springs, AR; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dean and Nona Fletcher.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bella Vista Funeral Home, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Bella Vista Funeral Home, followed by burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Gravette, AR.
