Harold "Harry" Schmitz, age 93, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, died Sunday, October 20, 2024, at Circle of Life Hospice Home at Legacy Village in Bentonville, Arkansas. He was born in Plymouth, Wisconsin.
Harold was raised and educated in Wisconsin. He retired from Color Arts Inc. in Racine, Wisconsin as Executive Vice President prior to moving to Bella Vista in 1990. He was a devoted usher at St. Bernard Clairvaux Catholic Church in Bella Vista for 20 years and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golf and just being outdoors with mother nature.
Harold was a Korean War Veteran and was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart with valor in combat and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Army with a rank of Sergeant 1st Class. He had a lifetime membership with the American Legion Post #341 in Bella Vista.
Harold was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose of 34 years; son, Larry; brothers, Charles, Edward, Paul and Marvin; and his second wife, Cleo of 23 years.
He is survived by his daughters, Peggy, of Dallas, Nancy, of Rockwall, Texas, Kathy, of Mauston, Wisconsin and Cherie, of Sterling Heights; son-in-laws, Pete, of Dallas, Texas, Ron, of Mauston, Wisconsin and Scott, of Sterling Heights, Michigan; grandchildren, Brandon, Dillon, Jennifer, Alex, Ashley, Kyle, and Jake; and great-grandchildren, Lillian, Logan and Madison.
Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Catholic Church, 1 St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, Arkansas 72715, with Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. with Father Barnabas officiating, and inurnment with military honors to follow at the Bella Vista Memorial Cemetery. Flowers may be sent to St. Bernard Catholic Church.
