Iona M. Baxter, 95, of Bella Vista, Arkansas passed away peacefully on January 13, 2022, in Bentonville, Arkansas from complications of dementia.

Iona was born in Centerville, Iowa on November 4, 1926. To John W. Thomas and Ella (Van Pelt) Thomas.  She graduated from Centerville High School in 1944.

Iona married the love of her life, Dale Baxter on May 27, 1950.  She lived in Ottumwa, Iowa for 30 years.  They owned Strawhackers Food Service for 10 years.  They retired in 1984 and moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas.  They were snowbirds for 20 years to Pensacola Beach, Florida.

Mom's hobbies were golfing, fishing and walking.

Iona is preceded in death by her husband Dale Baxter; parents; brother Bud Thomas and sister Margaret Mosher.

Iona is survived by her daughter Kathy (Lewis) Kaslow, Bentonville, Arkansas; son Nick (Dee) Baxter, Coralville, Iowa; 2 grandsons, Jason and John Baxter; 4 great grandchildren, Kade, Hayden, Leah and Cameron Baxter; and her sister Mary Parson.

Iona will be interred with her husband at the Fayetteville National Cemetery, 1000 S. Lt. Col. Leroy Pond Ave., Fayetteville, Arkansas, 72701.
