James Lavelle Spangler, 80, of Bella Vista, AR died peacefully in his home on October 7, 2023. Jim (also known as Lavelle in his hometown) was born in Winnfield, LA to Herbert Spangler and Katie Lee Moore.

He was an awarded Eagle Scout and Vietnam Veteran with the Navy. Jim had careers as a machinist, carpenter, special ed teacher and "jack of all trades". He was a proud alumnus of NSU in Natchitoches, LA.

Jim loved hunting, fishing, and golf. He and his wife, Donna are members of St Bernard's Catholic Church in Bella Vista.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert, and Katie; siblings, Herb, Barbara, Margie, and Ernie; and his beloved daughter, Karen.

He is survived by Donna Boyle, his wife of 58 years; daughter, Dawn; grandchildren, Christopher, Brooke, Brenden, and Natalie; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, and Ellen; as well as beloved nephews and nieces.

A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 1 St. Bernard Lane, Bella Vista, AR 72715. Following the service, inurnment will take place at the St. Bernard Catholic Church columbarium.
