We regret to announce the passing of James Starovich, age 87, who passed away peacefully on June 5, 2024, in Bella Vista, AR after a lengthy illness.

James "Jim" Starovich was born in Waukegan, IL in 1937. He was a retired route salesman for ITT Continental Baking for 30 years. He and his wife, Carolee, retired to Bella Vista in 1999 where he quickly became known as the fish whisperer. He would often say that "Some people prefer golf, but you cannot eat golf balls."

Jim was a devoted family man, who loved his family above all else. He was a beloved and loving husband to Carolee Starovich for 64 years, and a devoted father to Dale Starovich and Kurt Starovich, as well as a grandfather to Taylor Starovich, Zoe Starovich, and Scotty Starovich. He was proud of being a friend to Bill W. for more than 30 years.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed fishing, which brought him joy and relaxation. He was also took pride in the offering services to St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church. A particular joy was working with his therapy dog, Murphy, visiting several nursing and Circle of Life Hospice facilities.

Jim will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through his family, friends, and colleagues.

Jim is survived by his spouse, Carolee; two children, Dale(Becky)- Starovich and Kurt(Kim) Starovich; three grandchildren, Taylor, Zoe, and Scotty; one sister, Marian Staskiewicz of Libertyville, IL; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. at St. Bernard of Clairvaux Church in Bella Vista on Thursday, June 13, 2024, with Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St Bernard of Clairvaux Church.
