Obituary

Janice (Messmer) Kennedy, 81, of Bella Vista, Arkansas transitioned to her heavenly home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 9, 2026.

She was born in 1944 in San Diego to James and Patricia Messmer while James was stationed there during World War II. She graduated from Raytown High School, where she was a cheerleader.

Janice's greatest joy was raising her children and spending time with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, friends, and extended family. She also enjoyed gardening and was an Arkansas Master Gardener. She worked as a floral designer.

She was reunited with her daughter, Stacy, who died in 1975, in a tragic car crash at age eight. Stacy's death brought Janice to the depths of despair, resulting in the greatest transformation of her life: a personal relationship with Jesus. She found peace and comfort in Him and devoted her life to Him.

Janice is also reunited with her husband of 50 years, Jack Kennedy, who passed away in 2024; and with her grandson, Jack Kennedy.

She is survived by brothers, Jim and Mike Messmer; children, Todd Kennedy, and Jamie (Kennedy) Edwards and her husband, Jason Edwards; her stepchildren, Cynthia (Kennedy) Zugelder and her husband, Vern Zugelder, Douglas Kennedy, Brett Kennedy and his wife, Kim Kennedy, and Kyle Kennedy; her grandchildren, Braeden Edwards, Trevin Edwards, Oliver Kennedy, Adam Kennedy, Brandon Rogers, Rachel (Rogers) Kehl, Clint Zugelder, Connor Kennedy, Cassidy (Kennedy) Ehrsam, Jacob Kennedy, Miranda Kennedy, Travis Kennedy, and Grant Kennedy; and her nieces and nephews, Adam Messmer, Mark Messmer, Amanda Messmer, and Heather Messmer; along with multiple great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 3:00, at Grace Hills Church, 805 SE 22nd St, Bentonville, AR with a celebration of life service to follow.
