Janice Pope (Reihl), of Bella Vista AR, 88, passed away on July 18, 2023. She was born in Waterbury, CT, on August 27, 1934, to Gustav and Mary Reihl.

After graduating from high school in 1952, she attended Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School, Providence, RI, graduating in 1953. She married Russell Pope on June 16, 1956. His first job took them to the Chicago area, where they settled in St. Charles, IL, for 37 years.

Janice was a secretary at St. Charles High School, and financial secretary for the City of St. Charles. In June 1993, they retired to Bella Vista, AR, where they lived for some 31 years. Janice enjoyed traveling, friends, reading, doing puzzles and playing bridge. She was active in United Lutheran Church, serving two terms on the church council, where she was secretary to two presidents. She played in the church bell choir for several years. She was also active on a Synod constitutional committee in Tulsa, OK, for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Russell Pope; three daughters, Nancy Albertson of Elburn, Illinois, Susan Pope of Sun City, AZ and, Carol (Brian) Earls of Cumming, GA; five grandchildren, Tammy Frederick, David Albertson, Emily Kailey, Justin Earls and Grant Earls; and eight great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at United Lutheran Church,100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715 on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to United Lutheran Church.
