Jim D. Poindexter was born May 14, 1948, in the Northview Community north of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, to William Roy Poindexter and Jean Asbill Poindexter. He passed away at the age of 77 on June 22, 2025, at his home in Hiwasse, Arkansas.

Jim proudly served in the United States Army from 1969 to 1970, including a tour in Vietnam.  His time in the service meant a great deal to him – not just in duty, but in the lifelong friends he made along the way.  He cherished those bonds throughout his life.

Jim began his career in the propane industry as a young man in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and eventually owned and operated Benton County Propane in Hiwasse, Arkansas.

Upon retirement, Jim focused on his true calling as a cowboy – roping, working cattle and raising his beloved horses on his farm Osage Springs Cattle Company.  He loved the cowboy life and all the challenging work that came with it.

Jim had a quick wit and a fun-loving spirit.  He was always ready with a story or a joke and had a gift for bringing laughter into every room he entered.  He had a great love for music and was especially passionate about playing and traveling with his brothers in their band Steeldust.

But above all else, Jim deeply loved his family, his faith in God, and his life on his farm.  His values were simple and strong – faith, family, and the cowboy way.  He lived with a joyful heart and a deep appreciation for the blessings in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Jean Poindexter, and his brother, Bill Poindexter.

Jim is survived by his beloved wife, Anita of Hiwasse, AR; his children, Sherry Poindexter of Pea Ridge, AR, Angela Arnold and husband, Jeff of Pea Ridge, AR, Tina Davis and husband, Mark of Bella Vista, AR, Jamie Poindexter of Pea Ridge, AR, Ashley Hadley and husband, Shannon of Bella Vista, AR, and Ryan Holloway of Bella Vista, AR; grandchildren, Megan Hamilton, Jacob Hickman, Rylie Aranda, Cooper Arnold, Zach Davis, Hollyn Wright, Judd Casey, and Savannah Hadley; his great grandchildren, Ophelia Davis and Adalynn Aranda; his brothers, Donnie Poindexter and wife, Debbie of Sallisaw, OK, Ernie Poindexter and wife, Renee of Sallisaw, OK, and Rick Poindexter and wife, Lori of Sallisaw, OK.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at Bella Vista Funeral Home, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 p.m.
