Joan Ruth Hoogshagen, of Bella Vista, AR, passed away on March 3, 2025. She was born July 28, 1934, to Nick and Effie Hoogshagen in Milbank, South Dakota.

In 1952 she graduated from Monroe High School in Monroe, South Dakota and continued her education by attending the University of South Dakota and Sioux Falls College.

Joan traveled to countries such as Mexico, Alaska, Venezuela, South America, New Guinea, and Ghana Africa teaching missionary children in schools. She and her sister, Audrey traveled together enjoying sites. She moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas from Long Beach, California in 1990, where she enjoyed her garden and walking her dogs.

Joan had been a resident of Highlands Nursing Home in Bella Vista at the time of her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Effie Hoogshagen; sisters, Audrey and Erma DeWilde; brothers, Searle, Harvey, Ellsworth, Rolland, and Howard Hoogshagen.
