Pea Ridge

Obituary

John Efram Andrew Luna, 51, of Pea Ridge, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, after a very long fight with pain but very short diagnosis with metastatic pancreatic cancer. He was born in Northeast Texas but grew up in Southeast Oklahoma, before making his final home in Northwest Arkansas.

After graduating with a degree in Computer Science he started his career at Wal-Mart, Inc. kickstarting a 25 year career, where he eventually landed as a Senior Manager in Software Engineering with a team of approximately 15.

The many facets of John's personality are reflected in his interests, which were as broad as his shoulders! John loved being Papaw, spending time with friends & family, hunting, fishing, kayaking, travel, off-roading, pyrotechnics, and his giant horse-of-a-dog, Isabella. As John prioritized his faith, finding joy in life to share with others, and having a good laugh, the family asks that you do the same - go out and do something that brings you real joy and share it with those around you.

We would also like to acknowledge Washington Regional Hospital and Willard Walker Hospice Home and the wonderful nurses, doctors and staff that took such great care of John and helped make his transition as smooth as possible. John truly enjoyed speaking and visiting with all of you.

Waiting for him at the doors of heaven are his dad, Glen Luna of Oklahoma; his first wife, Georgianna Luna of Oklahoma; and daughter, Tori Luna of Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife, Shawnda Luna of Arkansas; son and significant other Cody Kopejtka and Becky Young; grandsons, Neal and Rayden; daughter and significant other Kasey Kopejtka and Mardel Hensley; granddaughter Ava; grandson, Rowan and (soon-to-be) grandson to be announced; and daughter Cameron Kopejtka; granddaughter, Nova and (soon to be) grandson Orion, all of Arkansas; mother, Kay Luna; oldest brother and spouse, Glen and Rose Luna; brother and spouse, Curtis and Vickie Luna; sister, Sharia Bernard - all of Oklahoma; and several brothers-in-heart, as he called them: Mike Wilkinson of California, Jonas Goodman of Arkansas, Justin Gabbard, Shannon Roberts and Travis Roberts, all of Arkansas.

A memorial service will be held later near his home in Arkansas, and another to be held near his family's home in Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local animal rescue or cancer research, both are organizations that John felt strongly about.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.  On-line condolences may be made at www.funeralmation.com.
