John
Foss
Feb 25, 1927 — Nov 14, 2024
Rogers
John Foss, 97, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away November 14, 2024, at Primerose Assisted Living Center. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 25, 1927, to John Foss and Goodney (Totland) Foss.
He enlisted in the United States Navy March 26, 1945, and served until July 2, 1948.
John became a Presbyterian minister after graduating from McCormick Seminary in Chicago, Illinois. He served as senior pastor in several states, beginning in Fairbury, Illinois, and including St. Louis Park, Minnesota, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Bella Vista, Arkansas.
John was very involved in the community, and often spearheaded projects such as Havenwood in Bentonville, and the Community Development Corporation in NW Arkansas. His most successful venture was The Plaza. He did much research regarding a cooperative living experience for seniors and saw it through its development until where it is now, a very successful and comfortable place for an enriched life.
John always enjoyed travel, almost anywhere. He also was creative at woodworking, and in earlier years had fun camping and fishing. And the singing. Always singing; in barbershop quartets, choirs, and throughout life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elaine (Peterson); and sister, Evelyn (Spellman).
He is survived by daughter, Karen (Nixon); son, David; grandsons, Adam and Geoff; granddaughter, Sandra (Moore); and great grandchildren, Titus, Evie, and Lilly.
