John "Jack"
L. Sadenwasser
Aug 20, 1929 — Nov 7, 2023
Bella Vista
John L. "Jack" Sadenwasser of Bella Vista, AR, passed away in Bentonville on November 7, 2023, at the age of 94. He was born on August 20, 1929, in Troy, WI, to Julius and Myrtle (Ludtke) Sadenwasser.
He was educated in a two-room schoolhouse through eighth grade, and when he graduated from East Troy High School in 1947, his class of 50 was the largest the school had ever seen.
Jack studied organic chemistry at the University of Wisconsin in Madison, which is where mutual friends introduced him to Delores Richardson. They married on June 13, 1953, and would be together until Dee's death in March of 2023.
Jack and Dee moved to Wausau, WI, in 1966. There they raised four children: Kurt, born in 1962: Betsy, born in 1964; Tim, born in 1967; and Ellen, born in 1973. Jack was a loving, engaged father, who made dinner most nights, baked bread regularly, and put his chemistry skills to work making homemade wine. He always had time for his family.
He worked as the director of analytics for the industrial hygiene lab at Wausau Insurance, where he retired in 1989. He then put to work his lifelong fascination with weather, working part-time as a weather observer at the small municipal airport in Wausau. In 1993, Jack and Dee moved to Bella Vista.
In retirement, Jack was able to fully indulge his love of fishing, spending many a morning on the banks of Loch Lomond catching blue gill and redear. Jack also had more time for writing, and he penned stories for children, poems about politics, and countless love notes for Dee.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Glen; and sister, Lois; and his wife of 69 years, Delores.
He is survived by his four children, Kurt, Betsy (Kristi), Tim (Jamie), and Ellen; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. November 11, 2023, at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715.
