John Franklin Phillips, born on May 5, 1946, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 14, surrounded by his loving family.
A native of Gravette, Arkansas, John graduated from Gravette High School in 1964 and went on to earn his degree from the University of Arkansas in 1968. He later obtained his CPA in 1976. His career as a Hospital Controller and Administrator spanned decades, during which he was instrumental in the establishment and growth of the Gravette hospital, impacting the health and well-being of countless individuals across the community.
John's passion for the University of Arkansas Razorbacks was unmatched. A season ticket holder for football and basketball since 1968, he bled cardinal and white, embodying the spirit of Razorback fandom in every aspect of his life. He cherished attending Razorback games with his children and grandchildren, sharing in their excitement and instilling in them a deep love for the Razorbacks.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Phillips and Ruth Morgan Phillips Woods, and his stepfather, Clifton Woods.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Glenda Phillips, whom he married on April 20, 1979. John was a devoted father and role model to Brent Smith (wife Michelle), Jeff Smith (wife Melissa), Angela Smith, and Heather Boos (husband Greg). His grandchildren, who lovingly called him PaPaw, brought him immense joy. He cherished every moment spent with Taylor, Sayer (wife Jennifer), Noah (wife Lauren), Maddie, Jacob, Sam, and Brody, instilling in them a deep love tor family and the Arkansas Razorbacks. He is also survived by his sister, Teresa Woods.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715 with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at Mt Pleasant Cemetery.
