Obituary

On May 22, 2023, John Nichols Schooley, 68, of Bella Vista, AR passed away peacefully at home with his beloved wife Sheila, and hospice staff at his side.  That morning the gates of heaven opened, and John was welcomed home.  John, was the middle child of three. He was born on June 17, 1954, to Nichols and Carolyn Schooley in Indianapolis, IN.

He was raised and lived in the state of Michigan, until he graduated college.  His jobs after high school and during his college years were as a security guard and factory work.  He graduated high school in 1972, and later attended Michigan State University, and obtained a degree in Hotel and Motel Management.  His career consisted of various jobs as a Food Service Director with hospitals, universities, and public schools.  He and Sheila were married in 1995 and were married 27 years.  He became disabled in 1997 but remained active in his community through volunteer services and church activities.  In 2020, John and Sheila moved to Bella Vista, AR in which they called home to enjoy the beauty of NWA and have developed rich relationships over the past three years.

John was a member of Bella Vista Church in Bella Vista, AR.  For enjoyment, he spent time socializing with family and friends, playing board games, attending church activities, and going for short walks with his wife.

John was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife Sheila; brother, Tom Schooley of Washington; sister, Kathy Ankrom of Michigan; and four children, Jason Schooley of Texas, Jess Siegrist of MO, Max Siegrist of Florida, and stepdaughter, Ashley Lamkin of Ohio; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bella Vista Memorial Garden Cemetery, 34 Buckstone Drive, Bella Vista, AR 72715.
