Larry Malcolm DeBuse, age 83, passed away surrounded by the love of family on June 4, 2026. He was born on July 30, 1942, in Forest Grove, Oregon, to Delbert and Lucille DeBuse. When Larry was two years old, his family relocated to Omaha, Nebraska, where he was raised and later graduated from Westside High School in 1960.

After high school, Larry followed in the footsteps of his brother Jim and proudly joined the United States Marine Corps, serving his country for six years.

Larry dedicated the next 40 years of his life to Metropolitan Utilities District (MUD) in Omaha. Outside of work, he found his greatest joy in spending time with his three boys. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, camping, training dogs, and teaching gun safety at the Millard Gun Club.

A passionate motorcyclist, Larry and his wife, Susan, became active members of the Gold Wing Touring Association (GWTA). Through his years of service and leadership, Larry advanced from Chapter Director to Chairman of the Board. Together, Larry and Susan traveled to all 50 states and Canada, with many of those miles experienced from the seat of a motorcycle.

In 2004, Larry and Susan moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas, to enjoy their retirement years. There, Larry discovered a love of golf and became active in a local writing club, where he developed a passion for poetry. He took great pride in sharing his poems and stories with family and friends, often creating personalized pieces that became treasured gifts.

Throughout his life, Larry built an extraordinary circle of friends through work, travel, and recreation. Anyone fortunate enough to meet him gained a friend for life. He was loyal, dependable, and honest—sometimes a little too honest. He was always there when someone needed him, and he never missed an opportunity to make people laugh. Whether through a joke, a story, or an outrageous outfit, Larry loved being the life of the party and bringing joy to those around him.

Larry's legacy lives on through the laughter he inspired, the friendships he cherished, and the love he gave so freely. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Lucille DeBuse; his sister, Chris Hadley; his brother, Jim Shimp; his son, Todd DeBuse; and his granddaughter, Brianna DeBuse.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Susan DeBuse; his son, Tim (Helen) DeBuse of Franklin, Tennessee; his stepson, Chad (Needra) Kruse of Colorado Springs, Colorado; his stepdaughter, Kalli (Steven) Pollari of Springdale, Arkansas; sister, Linda (Eugene) Vornheder of Mountain Home, AR; brother, Collin (Wendy) DeBuse of Bartlett, TN; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family members, and countless friends.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at Bella Vista Funeral Home, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Circle of Life Hospice or the Parkinson's Research Foundation in Larry's honor. These organizations provided meaningful support and represent causes that were important to him and his family.
