Obituary

Leonard Nicholas Eisert, 98, passed away on October 19, 2026, following complications from a fall. Leonard was born on November 12, 1927, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

He graduated from Horlick High School in Racine and was drafted into the Air Force upon graduation. He was a staff sergeant mobile training unit instructor for B-29s and was stationed primarily in Topeka and Salina, Kansas. Upon discharge, he attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he obtained a bachelor's degree and enjoyed baseball and ballroom dancing in his spare time. He then began his 30-year career as a sales representative for Texaco. He met his wife, LaVerne (Mertens) at a ballroom in Milwaukee, and they were married for 64 years until her death in 2019.

During his retirement in Bella Vista, he enjoyed traveling and swimming. Leonard worked with many charities and was an avid fundraiser. He was one of the original directors of the Veterans Council of Northwest Arkansas, where he introduced the idea of a Veterans Wall to honor the memories of those who have served in the Armed Forces. He worked tirelessly on the Wall and was a driving force behind its construction. He also used his fundraising skills for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and Aid Association for Lutherans. Leonard was a member of United Lutheran Church. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.

Leonard is survived by his dear friend, Susan Richmond; his son, Bruce (Diane) Eisert; his daughter, Janet (Erik) Graven; and granddaughters Carolyn and Elena Graven.
