Lowell (Andy) Anderson, 90, passed away on August 9, 2022. He was born on November 9, 1931 in Hector, Minnesota to Carl R. Anderson and Josephine Weis Anderson.

He attended grade school at Hector Public Schools until the family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota at which time his father worked to produce Liberty ships for WWII.

Lowell attended school in the Minneapolis area until the end of his sophomore year. While there he became part of the boy scouts.

The family then moved back to Hector, Minnesota. During his junior year he was badly burned while assisting the fire department in putting out a fire on a fuel tank on a semi-truck. His boy scout training came into play, as he dropped and rolled instead of running. Andy graduated with the class of 1949.

After graduation, he spent a semester at Gustavus Adolphus College and had several employments and joined the United States Air Force. He trained to be part of the Military Air Police. Just before his deployment to the French Morocco he married Jean Johnson on November 8, 1952. After his tour, he spent time at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California. During this time their daughter, Rebecca, was born. After she was born, they moved back to Minnesota. Son, Mark, was born four years later. Andy worked for 3M and was transferred to Atlanta, Georgia until his retirement.

Andy and Jean then moved to Bella Vista, Arkansas.

An avid sportsman, including golf and softball, he organized a softball league between local churches and became the Commissioner of the league and enjoyed many years playing as pitcher.

Andy, never content to sit around, joined the Bella Vista Honor Guard and was active for several years.

He also was head usher at Highlands United Methodist Church (security was his goal) and he helped with funerals and memorials at the church.

Andy was a pet lover and his decline came after his faithful golden retriever, Johnny, passed. Nothing could help his sorrow.

He and Jean were married for 69 years. He will be missed by all his friends, family and neighbors. Andy is survived by Jean, daughter Rebecca, son Mark (Connie) and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the Highlands Methodist Church and a private interment at the Fayetteville National Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials are preferred to the Highlands Methodist Church choir.
