Marilyn Lee Young passed peacefully on Thursday, June 9, 2022.  Marilyn was born in Mattoon, Illinois on February 23rd, 1935, to McNeill and Ruth (Frazer) Grantham.

Marilyn graduated from Mattoon High School and Barnes Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, Missouri. She worked as an RN in many different modalities culminating at Reeders Memorial Home in Boonsboro, Maryland, as Director of Nursing from where she retired. Marilyn and J.D. traveled the United States enjoying their retirement before putting down stakes in Bella Vista, Arkansas.

Marilyn enjoyed a variety of hobbies including ceramics, knitting, sewing, dinner with friends and, most of all, dancing. She loved animals, especially dogs, and was a mother to many. She lived in many different National Parks thanks to J.D.'s career in the National Park Service. They lived in the remotest of remote places creating unique memories for their children.

Marilyn is predeceased by son-in-law John Ravenhorst and granddaughter Lucy Hardisty.

Marilyn is survived by her loving husband of 67 years; James 'J.D.' Young; daughters, Cari Ravenhorst and Laura Young; grandchildren, Dale (Lisa), Leaha and Russell Hardisty; great-grandchildren, James, Pablo, Shanyn, Manuel and Julian.

Her family is happy that her suffering has ended and she's continuing her journey. In lieu of any donations, please give your loved ones a hug.
