Michael Brooks
Burnett
Apr 27, 1946 — Jul 1, 2025
Oklahoma City
Michael Brooks Burnett, 79, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2025, with his wife by his side.
Born on April 27, 1946, in Denver, Colorado to Preston and Elsie Burnett. Michael led a dynamic and accomplished life. He began his career as a corporate pilot, taking to the skies with a sense of adventure and precision. He later carved out his own path in business, working in the collections field as a repo man—a job that suited his grit and determination. Eventually, he transitioned to a long and successful career as an insurance adjuster, a role he embraced for many years with professionalism and dedication.
Michael had a lifelong love for old cars, boats, and what he fondly called his "expensive toys." He never missed a chance to enjoy life's thrills, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his beloved grand dogs, who always brought a smile to his face.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Preston and Elsie Burnett; his son, Michael J. Burnett; and his brother-in-law, Darrell Gilks.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 44 years, Linda Burnett (Rother); his sister, Cindy Gilks; his daughter, Angela Williams and her husband Marcus; his granddaughter, Jamie Bagwell and her husband Jack; his grandson, Brennan Williams and his wife Tatum; his grandson, Tyler Cook; his granddaughter, Courtney Hutchins and her husband Colton; and his grandson, Michael T. Burnett and his wife Miranda.
He is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Case Davis, Ashlynn Bagwell, Carver Bagwell, Sage Burnett, and Kinsley Williams. He leaves behind a family who adored him and countless memories that will be cherished forever.
Michael was known for his quick wit, generous heart, and fiercely independent spirit. He lived fully and on his own terms, leaving behind a legacy of strength, humor, and love.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
