Michael Hansen, 85, passed away July 6, 2024, in Bella Vista, Arkansas, after a lengthy illness. He was born on January 25, 1939, in Sioux Falls, S.D., to Carl and Ruth (Bender) Hansen.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Skaien in Canton, S.D., in 1961. They had four children.

In 1985, Mike and Angie Hansen were married in  Sioux Falls. In 1999, Mike and Angie moved to Bella Vista after retiring from the Sioux Falls School System in South Dakota, where Mike was a teacher and principal. He also served in the South Dakota Army National Guard, working his way up to Colonel and retiring after over 30 years.

In retirement, Mike was active in the Highlands Methodist Church and went on several mission trips as a volunteer. He enjoyed RVing, playing church league softball and golfing.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dan Hansen.

Mike is survived by his wife, Angie; son, Geoff (Nicola) Hansen; daughters, Geni Domagala, Genetta (Ted)  Wehrspann and Gretchen Hansen; stepsons, Greg and Nick (Katie) Gilmore; eight grandchildren, Logan and Dalton Domagala; Emma Hansen; Charlee Wehrspann; Finn and Amelia Gilmore; Tim and Pat Elkjer; his brothers, Tim (Paula) Hansen and Jerome (Harriet) Hansen; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Highlands Methodist Church, 371 Glasgow Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715.
