Orlando Martinez of Gravette, Arkansas, a husband, father, son, brother, papa and loyal friend passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
Orlando was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 29, 1964, to Panfilo Martinez and Joaquina Guerrero Martinez.
He was raised in Maysville, attended, and graduated from Gravette High School, class of 1982. Orlando was employed with AEP for 35 years and was a shift supervisor at Flint Creek Power plant in Gentry, Arkansas. In his younger days, Orlando and his brother Charles were recruited by Marvin Wilbur to play for the mighty Maysville baseball team. Raymond Scott was tasked to pick up the boys for practice. They were waiting in their starched jeans and shirts and wearing their Sunday shoes. As it was known that their mother always wanted her boys to be presentable; a trait that Orlando carried into his adult life. He took pride and was known for his pristine appearance. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Orlando was a perfectionist. His vehicles were always spotless, and everything had to be in its place. He was the calm in every storm and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is preceded in death by his father, Panfilo Martinez Jr; grandparents Concepcion and Panfilo Martinez, Sr., Concepcion and Secundino Guerrero; his father-in-law, James Pruitt, mother-in-law, Joyce Pruitt, and sister-in-law, Cindy Rankin.
He is survived by his wife Carla, son Justin (Miranda), and grandson, Case Orlando; mother, Joaquina G. Martinez of Maysville; sisters, Anita Scates-Maysvillo, Irene (Randy) Webster, of Linden Texas, Noelia Thomas of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; brothers, Jaime Martinez (Charlene) of Longview, Texas, Lehn Charles Martinez of Maysville, Joe (Michelle) Martinez of Hiwasse; brother-in-law James Rankin of Gentry; six nieces and seven nephews and a host of grand-nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends, Dale and Beverly Harris.
A rosary will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 5:30 p.m. at the Gravette Civic Center, 401 Charlette St, SE Gravette, Arkansas, 72736. A Service and Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, August 29, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Decatur Assembly of God, 674 North Main Street, Decatur, Arkansas, 72722.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Grand Savings Bank to be utilized to help people or organizations in need in our direct community to honor Orlando.
