Rich was born March 28, 1934, in Fremont, NE, the youngest son of Milo and Naomi Shriver. The family later moved to Sutherland, IA, where Rich completed his high school education. After graduating high school, he joined the Army and trained as a tank driver stationed in Virginia.

After divorcing Charlotte, he married Patricia (Pat) Moffitt of Jackson, MN. Rich and Pat made their home in Bentonville, AR where Rich became a licensed realtor and broker, owning and operating a Century 21 real estate office, one of the highest performing agencies in Northwest Arkansas. He later started A-1 Realty NWA where he could be found telling stories and lending a helping hand up to his death. Rich's passion included spending time on Lake Loch Lomond on his pontoon, where he often entertained family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing trips to Canada and attending Arkansas Razorback football games. In his later years, he could often be found feeding turtles and fish from his dock with a glass of Chardonnay in hand.
Rich is preceded in death by his wife, Pat Shriver; sons, Gary Shriver and Dale Shriver; parents, Milo and Naomi Shriver; brother, Jack Shriver; niece, Susan Erickson; and lifelong friend, Richard (Curly) Morris.
