Robert E. (Bob) Mierendorf, 93, died August 13, 2023, in Bella, Vista, AR. He was born Feb. 4, 1930, in Milwaukee, WI to Henry and Helen Mierendorf.

He grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Bay View High School in 1948. Bob was drafted into the Army in 1951 and served in Korea. In 1957 he received a B.S.E.E. from Marquette University. He married Shirley Karl on May 25, 1963. While working as an electrical engineer he earned a M.S.E.E. degree from the University of Wisconsin through the night study program. In 1966 he joined Harnischfeger Corporation as the Chief Engineer of Electrical Systems. In that position he travelled throughout the United States and to many different countries around the world solving technical problems and making engineering presentations. He retired from fulltime employment in 1993 and moved to Bella Vista, AR in 1996.

Bob was an active member of Bella Vista Lutheran Church. He enjoyed golfing, all activities with his grandchildren, playing Bridge, and supporting Razorback and Green Bay Packer football.

He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Elmer.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Shirley Mierendorf of Bella Vista; two sons, Robert A. Mierendorf (Lori) of Parrish, FL; David Mierendorf of Springdale, AR; one daughter,

Patti Ploen and husband, John of Gulf Shores, AL; four grandchildren; Morgan and Nathan Mierendorf of Parrish, FL, and Hannah Strange of Ocean Springs, MS; and Jack Ploen of Metairie, LA; plus, other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at the Bella Vista Lutheran Church, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715. Rev. Dr. Paul Hass, Pastor will be officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bella Vista Lutheran Church Food Pantry, 1990 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715 or to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 457, Rogers, AR 72757-0457.
