Robert (Bob) Mahmens, 74, of Decatur, passed away on February 17, 2024, after yet another battle with cancer.
Born on December 11, 1949, Bob was a beloved father, grandfather, sibling, spouse, and friend who touched lives of many with his kindness, generosity, resilience and adventurous spirit.
He was born in Clinton, Iowa to Willard and Mildred Mahmens. Throughout his life, Robert showed strength and courage. His generous nature, witty mind, friendliness, compassion and sense of humor attracted a lot of people and established lots of friendships that lasted a lifetime.
Despite his long battle with cancer, he remained strong, courageous, optimistic and inspiring.
Robert gained many friends working at AT&T and Mahmens Construction exercising his knowledge and skills as an Associate of Arts in Business.
He enjoyed fishing and cars, but most of all, Robert was known for his selfless love for his grandchildren. Demonstrating companionship, he did everything in his power to make sure his children and grandchildren knew they were loved.
Robert's family and many friends will be missing his "heart of gold".
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his younger brother, Ronald Mahmens; and five of his beautiful granddaughters.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Kathy Mahmens; his son, Robert (Elina) Mahmens; daughter, Karry (Jamie) Frazier; his brother, Will Mahmens; sisters, Judy Schneider and Sherry Woodford; and grandchildren, Trinity Mahmens, Molly and Sawyer Mahmens.
A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Decatur Veterans Park,1105 N Main St, Decatur, AR 72722 , followed by a luncheon after the service.
