Ruby Marie Reed, of Winslow passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024, at the Circle of Life in Bentonville, AR. She was born on December 4,1934 in Winslow to the late Melvin "Pete" Cook and Marlis King.

Ruby grew up during the Great Depression in Winslow, Arkansas, and showed a resilient spirit from a young age. Leaving home at the age of 14, Ruby embarked on a journey that led her to marriage and motherhood, gave birth to her first child at age 15.

Ruby is survived by five of her six children:

Daughter, Marlis Ruth Poole (Marty) of Cleveland, OK, two grandsons, Ronnie (Becky) of Fayetteville, Glen (Michelle) of Claremore, OK and great grandchildren, Ericka Robinson of Tulsa, Peyton Trumbull of Sacramento, CA, AJ Lang of Moore, OK and Kristen Hodge of Tulsa.

Son, Timothy Howard Gabbard of Northwest Arkansas, grandchildren, Timi Maynard of Pocahontas, AR, four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, Zach Gabbard and three great grandchildren of Pettigrew AR, Season and three great grandchildren of Northwest Arkansas; and

Son, Melvin Glenn (Mel) and Janice of Bella Vista, AR, grandchildren, Aimee and Eric Duca of Bentonville, AR, two great grandchildren, Blake of Rogers and Carson of Bentonville, grandson, Matthew Myers of Bella Vista, AR, grandson, Mike Myers of Springdale, AR, two great grandchildren, Mikayla Myers of Fayetteville, and Jaxon Myers of Springdale, grandson, Joseph Reed of Parker, CO, two great grandchildren, Alyssa Reed of Greely, CO, Trevor Reed of Littleton, CO, grandson, Jacob and wife, Kara Reed and four great grandchildren, Anna Reed (deceased) , Quintin Reed, Jaeden Reed and Kaelyn Reed all of Kuna, Idaho; and

Daughter, Gladys Marie-(Deceased), grandson, Shane and Laura Owens of Rogers, AR- great grandchildren, Alexandra Goforth Hogarth of Fayetteville, Amanda Owens Reading-Bella Vista, AR, Ryan Owens of Rogers, grandson, Jamison of Northwest AR; and

Son, John Leroy Higby and Kerie of Saint Paul, AR, granddaughter, Leann and Drew Cook of Prairie Grove, AR, great grandchildren, Corey Cook, Olivia Cook and Joey Cook all of Prairie Grove, AR, granddaughter, Stepanie Higby, great grandchildren, Janna and Jonah all of Prairie Grove, granddaughter, Molly Higby and Shawn of Farmington, great grandchildren, Sawyer and Evelyn all of Farmington, grandson, Forrest Higby of Farmington; and

Daughter, Tammy and John Saferite of Siloam Springs, grandson, Justin Deshay and Victoria of Fayetteville, great grandchildren, Bianna, Samantha, Jordan and Josiah all of Fayetteville, AR, grandson, Josh DeShay and Shelby, great grandchildren, Ellie, Rayleigh and Avery all of Centerton, AR, grandson, Asante Pulliam of New York, NY, and grandson, Isaiah Pulliam of Siloam Springs, AR; and

Several brothers and sisters: Melvin "Leon" Cook of Hydro, OK, Joyce McCaslin of Elkins, AR, William "Hubert" Cook of Creswell, OR, Roy Dale Cook of Madill, OK, Brenda Kay Ackley of Grove, OK, Michael Joe Cook of Lincoln, AR and John Wayne Cook of West Fork, AR.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, James Leo Reed of Winslow, several brothers and sisters, Kenneth Cook, Lanora Warren, Robert Cook (Bob), Dewight Cook, Linda Cook and Mary Frances Cook, Doris Yerton, John Mugley, and Cathy Warren.

She leaves behind a legacy of strength, love, and compassion that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Ruby will be dearly missed by her family and a host of friends.

Ruby Reed's Celebration of Life will be held at Christian Life Cathedral Church, 1285 Millsap Road, Fayetteville, AR 72703 on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM.
