Russa Lou Stout, passed from this life peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born on October 25, 1941, in Joplin, MO to James Russell Howerton and Anna Lou McDonald Howerton.  She grew up in Noel, MO. where her parents owned an arcade and miniature golf course.

Russa Lou went on to attend the University of Arkansas and later transferred to the University of Tulsa, OK where she received her bachelor's degree in education.  She spent 30 years teaching English in Sallisaw, OK, Warner, OK, Yukon, OK and Lawton McCarther, OK.  She also spent many of those years as a drill team coach, cheerleader and mat maid coach.  She enjoyed reading and watching old movies.

She retired to Wichita Falls, TX and eventually moved to Northwest Arkansas to be closer to family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Anna Lou Howerton; her maternal grandparents, George and Ferne J McDonald; her parental grandparents, Burt and Georgia Pearl Howerton; stepdaughter, Linda Cooper; and a grandson and wife, Mark and Janene Thompson,

She is survived by her husband, Don W. Stout, of the home; her son, Carl Scott (Sonja) of Bella Vista, AR; step daughters, Nansii Downer (Bryan) of Texas and Gwen Scichowski of Texas; her grandchildren, Peyton Scott, Jaren Scott, Morgan Scott, Gabbi Scott, Jacob Curtis, Michael (Lisa) Cooper, Scott (Melissa) Cooper, Kerenza (Vinny) Alvarez, Jaymes (Jordan) Downer, Michael (Julie) Scichowski, Jerusha (Tim) Benedetto, Solomon (Alyssa) Scichowski, Charis (Marcus) Hull, Justus Scichowski; and great grandchildren Carter, Heartlynn, Jovie, Rosen, Union, Issac, Noah, Lexi, Jordan, Jacob, Jonah, Kodie, Jonathan, Austin, Nash and Lucy.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Bella Vista Funeral Home, 2258 Forest Hills Blvd., Bella Vista, AR 72715.
