Obituary

Russell Pope, Jr, of Bella Vista, AR, 93, passed away on June 23, 2024. He was born on April 26, 1931, in Watertown, CT, to Russell and Gladys (Warner) Pope.

After attending Watertown High School, he graduated from the University of Connecticut in June 1953. He served in the US Army from November 1953 to October 1955, and thereafter went on to train in sales in Watertown, CT, for Anaconda American Brass Co. Russell married Janice Reihl on June 16, 1956.

His first position with Anaconda took him to Chicago, IL, where he lived with his wife for 37 years in the suburb of St. Charles, IL. His working life was spent entirely on industrial sales.

Russell and Janice retired to Bella Vista, AR, in June 1993, where they lived for over 30 years. He was active in United Lutheran Church of Bella Vista where he served two terms as President of the church council.

He enjoyed volunteering in his retired years at various organizations in the Bella Vista area, photography, reading, traveling, playing golf and being with friends. He was also an avid Cubs fan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Janice Pope, and two sisters, Barbara Krull and Eleanor Ande.

Russell is survived by his three daughters, Nancy Albertson of Colorado Springs, CO, Susan Pope of Sun City, AZ, and Carol (Brian) Earls of Cumming, GA; five grandchildren, Tammy (Nathan) Frederick, David (Paige) Albertson, Emily (Jake) Kailey, Justin (Kelli) Earls, and Grant (Rachael) Earls; and nine great-grandchildren.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at United Lutheran Church, 100 Cooper Road, Bella Vista, AR 72715
