Sherman Leon Treat, 79, passed away April 29, 2022, at his home in Gravette, Arkansas. He was born March 30, 1943, to Sherman and Ruth L. Treat. He was the third born son of six children.
Sherman graduated from Big Flat, Arkansas, in 1961.
He was married to Gerene Powell on Oct 29, 1961, and they were married for sixty-one years. Sherman and Gerene had two children, Sherri Hutchison and Shawn Treat.
Sherman worked at many places over the years from Tyson's, Ralston Purina to Kenna Metal, where he retired from after thirty-six years.
Sherman was a member of the Masonic Lodge, becoming a Master Mason in 1973. He became Past Master of The Springdale Bule Lodge #316 in 1976. He was also a 32 nd degree Scottish Rite.
Sherman enjoyed hunting, gardening and farming. He also enjoyed drawing, and he was a very good artist. He loved to be outdoors, whether putting up hay or just checking his cattle and other animals. Sherman loved to be with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sherman believed strongly in God and standing up for his country. He was of The Missionary Baptist faith.
Sherman was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman and Ruth; his brothers, Clyde and Benny Treat and his sister, Pasty Goodman.
Sherman is survived by his wife, Gerene Treat; his daughter, Sherri Hutchison and son-in-law Jimmy; his son, Shawn Treat and his daughter-in-law, Sherry
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Shayne (Heather) Sandlin, Kasia Hall, Alyssa (Zach) VanLaningham, Saber Treat and Saxon Treat; his great grandchildren, Neveah and Camden Sandlin, Lilysette Johnson and Alice VanLaningham.
Survivors also include his sisters, Johnnie (Roy) Wood of Springdale and Caryolyn Thompson of Fayetteville, many nieces and nephews and various family members.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 4, 2022, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be held Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Goodman, Pastor Mitch Martin and Pastor Mike Martin officiating.
Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Gravette.
