Stephen John Green was, 68, passed away peacefully June 2, 2022, at his home in Bella Vista, Arkansas. He was  born December 29, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas to Leslie Chase and Martha Elliot Green.

Steve lived in Fort Worth during his early childhood. When he was nine years old, his mom moved him and his brother to California to be closer to family. California was where he grew up and graduated from Antelope Valley High School. Before he graduated and even before he had a license, Steve convinced his mother to buy his first motorcycle, a dirt-bike. That acquisition cemented his love for motorcycles as evidenced by his having owned well over forty motorcycles during his life. However, even given his enduring love for cars and motorcycles, his true calling came with joining the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department where he worked for several years. In fact, he truly relished the time he spent working the "mean streets" of Los Angeles! His next career move saw him obtain a top-level security clearance for the Lockheed-Martin Corporation in Burbank, California, where he performed high level security assignments, many of which are still classified to this day. He retired and eventually found his way to Bella Vista, Arkansas.

Steve's greatest pleasures derived easily from his natural talent and aptitude for all things mechanical. He loved working on cars and was a gifted mechanic. He possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of firearms and after settling into life in Bella Vista, he volunteered countless hours helping people build, repair, and learn about firearms and their safe use. His enviable marksmanship skills were further enhanced by the countless hours he spent at the range, both practicing his own technique and teaching others the "right" way. A further testament to his mechanical aptitude was the uncanny knack he had for turning average appearing cars, motorcycles, bicycles, etc., into items nothing short of show pieces.  But, believe it or not, there was a "softer" side to Steve "McGreen" (a nickname fondly assigned by a

close friend) and that was his love of baking. As with all things, he perfected that art and turned out countless numbers of delicious edibles. A more telling example of his soft side shown brightly in the compassion he displayed in happily caring for and fulfilling the special needs of his companion of many years, his blind and diabetic dog Guerra.

In short, Steve faced all of life's pleasures and challenges with a "can do" attitude and with not an ounce of "give up." Can't was just not part of his vocabulary. He truly embodied the relentless pursuit of perfection in all things he did. Steve spoke his mind and was incredibly comfortable in his skin. He had a dry wit and was always a fun person to be around and he never met a stranger. But, above all else, Steve was a giver, a devoted father, a wonderful brother, of course, but so much more, a great friend to many, a strong presence in any situation and truly one of the all-around good guys! He left this earth much too soon and he will be sorely and forever missed by his family, friends and all who had the good fortune to know him.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents,  and his special friend and brother-in-law, Dwane Midgett of Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

Steve is survived by the two "lights of his life"; his loving daughters, Leilani Green (married to Jason Fraka of Bella Vista, Arkansas) and Kayla Green (life partner Anthony Carbajal) and, of course, their mother, Barbara Green of California; as well as Steve's sister, Mary Green Midgett of Fruita, Colorado and Steve's brother, William Chase Green of Midland, Texas (married to Erin). Also surviving him are nephews, John Elliott Miley of Moab Utah, and John Maithland Green of Midland, Texas; and nieces Wendy Baham of Metairie, Louisiana, and Tina Bruce of Fruita, Colorado. He had seven great and six great-great nieces and nephews.
