William Tom Buchanan, of Hiwasse, Arkansas, passed away on January 15, 2023. He was born on July 29, 1940, in Raleigh, North Carolina to William Rex Buchanan and Virginia Norwood Buchanan.

In high school, Tom was an outstanding honors student and an Eagle Scout. He got his Master of Science of degree from North Carolina State at only 23 years of age and became a geotechnical engineer. He worked on the rapid transit in Atlanta, MARTA, for seventeen years, doing underground designs and tunnels for the MARTA trains. He was a strong Christian and a member of the Hiwasse 1 ^st Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Victoria Daughrity Buchanan; son, Nathan Buchanan; daughter, Drew Buchanan; brother-in-law, Dean Daughrity; and three nephews, Jeffrey Daughrity, Jeremy Daughrity, and Brandon Daughrity.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Hiwasse First Baptist Church, 13512 AR-72, Hiwasse, AR 72739. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with pastor Roger Robins officiating. Tom will be buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Gravette, Arkansas.
