It is with great sadness that we are announcing the passing of William N. Smith III, age 84.  He passed peacefully on April 10 ^th , 2022, at his home in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Bill was born May 30 ^th , 1938, in Wilmington, Delaware, to William N. Smith Jr. and Amy Louise Smith. Bill first served in the Army then transferred to the Air Force.  He was stationed at Chateauroux-Deols Air Force Base in France, where he met Judith Ann Connor, the love of his life.  After returning to the states, Bill and Judy married on April 11 ^th , 1964, in Abilene, Texas.  They relocated to Maryland, where they began their new family.  Bill and Judy came to Houston, where he was attached to NASA from the end of the Gemini projects to the beginning of the space shuttle program.  Afterwards, Bill went on to work for CRC Evans and Rich-Mar Cop. as an electrical and mechanical engineer. The last company he worked for was Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. Bill started out as a TLE (Tire, Lube, Express) Manager and then moved into the Store Planning Division. Bill & Judy retired in Bella Vista, Arkansas.

After Bill and Judy retired, they jumped feet first into their RV with their three dogs and proceeded to travel around the US visiting many places, friends and family. They enjoyed participating with Habitat for Humanity in the Bella Vista area.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ann Smith; his son, Michael Collins Smith; his father, William N. Smith Jr.; his mother, Amy Louise Smith; his sister, Diana L Stevenson.

Survivors include his son, William N. Smith IV; his wife, Kathleen Smith of Bella Vista, Arkansas; their three sons, William N. Smith, Thomas Michael Smith, and Austin Ditch and his daughter, Sabrina Deidre Snider, and her husband, Darrell Snider of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Bill was loved and will be remembered by all that he met.

As per Bill's request, no funeral is going to be held. A celebration of life dinner may be held later. His daughter Sabrina Snider can be reached by email at ssnider9144@gmail.com .

In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to honor William N. Smith III, may make donations to St. Jude ( www.stjude.org ) or the ASPCA.
